Maggie Valley, NC

The trip to Maggie Valley in August 2023, was a trip I didn’t know I needed, in a psychological sense. I say that because we had no cell service where we camped at…but not one of us was complaining about that! We had all the snacks, great meals, lots of alcohol and other goodies (iykyk) to go around! To my memory, we had about 4-5 couples including us camping out for four days and it was a blast. We were by the waterfall so for me, if I wasn’t having a drink, eating, or chasing the waterfalls, I was sleeping! Something about it, calmed my mind down and I know that, with me being in the earlier years of my healing journey, my nervous system and overall body just needed it! Plus being in the middle of nowhere with loved ones without a care in the world, those times are forever cherished to me!

Shortly after checking out from the camping area, we got breakfast at Joey’s Pancake House and I got me some apple pancakes and that was amazing! My phone also buzzed with notifications for the first 5-10 minutes of us being back in civilization. So to me, it automatically gave me some feelings of urgency to respond and anxiety from the number of things that I would’ve had to check later. After three days, of enduring the constant buzzed sound, I redid the way I received notifications on it as it became too much to mentally handle. This was when I learned that I needed to redo the relationship that I had with my phone! Like I said, it was the trip that I didn’t know that I needed.
